The only thing missing from this event was go faster stripes.

We had the privilege this week of providing catering services for two launch events and a media luncheon for Lexus at Dogpatch Studios in San Francisco to unveil their hot new 2014 Lexus IS performance sedan, produced by their national public relations firm Alison & Partners  (who were wonderful to work with). They brought in key media from the West Coast to preview and test drive the new line of Lexus cars.

These were fairly small-scale, intimate affairs where we provided passed hors d’ oeuvres selections, savory stations, tasty desserts, coffee and tea for the evening launch events. A sampling of the menus included Cider Braised Pork Belly on Sweet Potato Cake
with Apple Celery Slaw, Fresh Local Dungeness Crab and Bay Shrimp Cakes, Braised Boneless Short Ribs, savory pies, and a seasonal selection of Petits Fours.

Lunch was provided yesterday for each guest after test driving the new cars consisting of (among other things) Shaved Prime Rib Sliders, Salad of Arugula, iced tea, lemonade, soda and dessert.

Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to test drive the new cars ourselves, but the numerous Global Gourmet Catering gear heads in our office are holding out hope for next year!

SFTA Business Exchange at The Exploratorium

We were excited to be a part of the San Francisco Travel Association Business Exchange event at The Exploratorium last night!

The promo featured the combined efforts of the San Francisco Travel Association and the brand new Exploratorium, which opens to the public on April 17th. Over 1,400 hospitality industry insiders were treated to an early preview of the highly anticipated new museum at its new location at Pier 15 on San Francisco’s Embarcadero. Guests enjoyed a wide variety of specialty food and beverages from San Francisco’s top catering companies.

The menu from Global Gourmet Catering included Beef Cheeks and Bourbon Roasted Shallots, Goat Cheese & Asparagus Spoon Bread, Olivera Ranch Poached Quail Egg, Orange Fennel Slaw, “Old Fashion” Guittard Dark Chocolate, Raspberry Bulleit Mousse and Smokey Hazelnut Dacquoise, and refreshing Stone Sours.

Catersource 2013. We came, we conquered, we ate. A lot.

So glad to be back home in San Francisco from the 2013 Catersource Conference & Tradeshow – which was educational and fun, but four days in Vegas can be exhausting.

Catersource is an event for catering and event professionals, operators, industry leaders and suppliers selling to food service or catering operators, providing learning on the latest and most pertinent issues facing our industry today, and networking opportunities you won’t find anywhere else.

Here we are at the conference with some of our fabulous Global Gourmet Catering team members — Alejandro Spain Salinas, Danielle Levine, David Ashley, Jennifer Shortridge and Jessica Haro, learning new tools and trends, sharing tips in catering and event planning, and seeing a lot of our clients and friends.

We always come back home excited, full of new ideas, and stuffed. Hope to see you there next year!

SF MOMA

SF MOMA (The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art) is the first museum on the West Coast devoted solely to 20th-century art and is an excellent venue for corporate events. SF MOMA is also very conveniently located in the heart of San Francisco across the street from Moscone Center and Yerba Buena Gardens, making it a very convenient post conference/tradeshow location.

What we love about this venue:

SF MOMA  is a beautiful venue, and the galleries provide additional entertainment value for large scale corporate events.

Dolby’s 2012 Holiday Party Rocked!

If you happen to work for Dolby you were perhaps lucky enough to experience their incredible Rock and Roll themed holiday party (complete with customized guitars as props and centerpieces) with 900 of your closest friends and co-workers at City View Metreon, produced by 2 the 9s Events and catered by Global Gourmet Catering.

Guests were greeted with champagne, and kiosk tables were adorned with metallic linens with custom “Dolby” guitar picks you could take home. Rock and roll poster displays created rock lounge areas complete with coffee tables that were actually “dead cases” utilized as lounge coffee tables to have the feel
of a rock and roll concert.

Food service included an oyster station with chefs making Bloody Mary sorbets to order to top off the oysters, hand rolled sushi, Hong Kong shui mai, a Brazilian carving station, and house made push up pops with seasonal flavors such as Pumpkin, Eggnog, Peppermint, and a Pear Sorbet with Cranberry.

The de Young Museum’s stunning architecture offers a dramatic venue for both corporate and private events. Located in Golden Gate Park, the de Young provides a number of premier event spaces (indoor and outdoor) perfect for any group.

What we love about this venue:

Located in the heart of Golden Gate Park, this modern venue has a variety of event spaces to choose from. The Hammond Tower allows guests amazing San Francisco views and dinner inside Wilsey Court allows for a grand evening. So many unique traveling exhibits have been at the de Young Museum, from the recent King Tut traveling exhibit to an Yves St. Laurent exhibit and Andy Warhol retrospective, this museum has an exhibit for every art taste.
